Hello, there! If you’ve made it this far, we suspect you’ve decided to be a V.I.G. (Very Important Guest) and we couldn’t be more delighted! This information should help prepare you for the event ahead.
Q: I’m staying at the Boston Marriott Quincy. What’s the best way to get me to the Hoosic on time?
A: The best way is by school bus! We’ve arranged for a bus to shuttle guests from the Marriott to the Hoosic both before and after the event. (And on our bus, you’re a cool kid whether you sit in the front or in the back of the bus.)
Your bright yellow chariot shall await you outside the Marriott’s lobby starting around 5:15 PM and will take off by 5:30 sharp. Our heroic friend Victor has agreed to be onsite as your trusted guide on this bright yellow adventure…look for him in the lobby area if you have any trouble or questions.
PS: We won’t strand you at the Hoosic! Return trips will start once dessert has been consumed. If you feel you need a departure at any point earlier in the evening, please just let a member of the wedding party know.
Q. I’m not staying at the Boston Marriott Quincy, so I’m driving my own chariot. Is there parking at the Milton Hoosic?
A: Yes! There is a small parking lot at the Hoosic, as well as easy and ample street parking. If you’re feeling spry and nimble, we humbly request that you opt for street parking so that the lot spots are available for those who need it most. A kindly policeman will be stationed at the venue to point out the street parking…and maybe even stop traffic for you to cross the street! V.I.G. indeed!!!
If you have a cast on your leg, or if you move a little more slowly than you used to, please feel free to use the lot. If it’s already full by the time you arrive, simply pull into the circular drive at the front of the venue and someone will be happy to park it for you (and retrieve it for you when needed).
Q. I’m not staying at the Boston Marriott Quincy, and I’d love to avoid driving my own chariot. Is there any other option?
A: Yes! Whaddya know, there’s actually a Red Line MBTA stop just a half mile from the Milton Hoosic Club! If your shoes aren’t too impractical for a 10 minute walk (which they shouldn’t be) and if you have a traveling buddy to keep you company, it just might do the trick.
T Stop Name

Q: What to wear? What NOT to wear?
A: We think of this soiree as a semi-formal affair, but your comfort is important to us. Wear something that makes you feel at your most festive and frolicky!
A note re: shoes:
If the weather is agreeable, the ceremony will be held outside on the side lawn of clubhouse. Ladies (and fashion-forward men), this means you may want to choose footwear with a wedge heel, a wider heel, or flats. If that cramps your style, feel free to still strut those stilettos as long as you have some of these magic devices as an insurance policy!
A note re: temperatures:
Since this is an evening wedding in mid-September in delightfully fickle New England, it might be warm or it might be cool, or both those temps might blow our way over the course of the evening. Or it could be a surprise 95 degrees! (But let’s hope not…even though the Hoosic has air conditioning.) Or a surprise 50 degrees! (But let’s hope not…even though the Hoosic has fireplaces.) Basically, wherever the thermometer ends up, an extra layer might be wise.
As for what not to wear…
This may not be the best time to re-wear your own wedding dress, as it may confuse Josh and/or accidentally jump-start the wedding processional. By the same token, this may not be the best time to debut your new, life-like custom latex mask of Josh’s face, as it may confuse Melissa and spark an intense scene of “true identity” detection test (save that mask for Halloween, as originally planned!). Other than that, we’ve seen how snazzily you all can dress. We know you’ve got this. 🙂
Q: I noticed there was no option to choose a meal on the RSVP card. Should I panic? WILL THERE BE FOOD?!?! *desperately stuffs snacks into pockets*
A: Fear not, and faint not, too! Indeed, there shall be tasty morsels to fuel the full spectrum of your dance floor gyrations. The meal will be buffet style, featuring a variety of options that should be friendly for carnivores, omnivores, pescatarians and herbivores alike. For the vegans out there, we know who you are and have arranged for special meals for you. But if anyone has any diet-related concerns at all, please feel free to send us a note at wedding@joshuaandmelissa.com and we’ll do everything we can to accommodate you.
Q. Will I be part of an enormous group photo?
A. YES, Melissa loves nothing more than an enormous group photo! It will likely happen right after the ceremony, so don’t fret: your lipstick and your pomade should still be fresh. And, in an ironic smile-inducing twist, right after the photo there will be CHEESE. (And hummus and other treats, too, for the non-cheesers among us.) And cocktails! And root beer! Hooray! This is going to be an incredible day!
Q: Hmmm, do I have any more questions?
A: Think about it and tell us if you do at wedding@joshuaandmelissa.com!
